Let’s talk wedding venues, I think this is such an important part when it comes to your wedding, I have been to many venues and I have only re-visited a few, the big question is how do you choose a venue?
I know many aspects involved will look something like this:
Location,
How many people can attend,
Price,
Accessibility,
Style,
And of course Availability
All I can say is when I started I always thought a traditional church wedding would be my cup of tea, but now after seeing many different wedding styles locations, and approaches I now can see how difficult it could be to choose.
I wanted to do this post in order to maybe help a couple looking for the perfect venue.
There are many things to consider when planning your wedding, the date is a great starting point as it will be one to remember. It could resemble your first date or maybe a milestone.
Your guest list is very special, some would say they want a small intimate wedding but others would disagree, everyone’s perspective on a wedding is different.
The dress is probably the bride’s most important aspect, she needs to feel beautiful elegant, and comfortable all at the same time, as most Brides intend on wearing their dress until the very last dance. These big decisions about choosing your bridesmaids and best men are very important and also very difficult if you have too many special friends.
However, one decision which for me is most important is your wedding venue. The location you decide upon is one of the most instrumental parts of your wedding, it will be the backdrop for your wedding photographs and the place in which memories of a lifetime will be created.
I have attached some of the venues I have attended over the years, it’s great to see wedding photographs so you can visualise how your wedding could look on the day, I also get brilliant ideas and inspiration by looking at other photographers work.
I hope this blog has been an interesting read and helped you think about how to choose your perfect wedding venue.
There are many parents who due to the pandemic have sadly missed out on celebrating their child’s first birthday with their family and friends.
But fear not! With lockdown restrictions being eased, now is the perfect time to start planning their even bigger second birthday!
I look forward to working with you to capture the magic with a professional photoshoot. One fairly new and increasingly popular tradition in the UK is the “Cake Smash” photoshoot. Last year, I really enjoyed organising these photoshoots with parents in their own homes.
For the first half of the session your child gets very messy eating the cake. For the second half, they have a bubble bath which is a great way to clean them up and also get some fun extra shots!
But where did the idea behind the “Cake Smash Photoshoot” come from?
One theory suggests it originated from the Mexican tradition of “The Mordida”, where on a child’s first birthday, they blow out their candle and have their face shoved into a cake, normally by their mum or dad, then everyone cheers and takes photos.
The Cake Smash is a lot of fun and will give you memories you’ll treasure forever.
Here is Ava on her second birthday, showing you what to expect. She didn’t get as messy as some children I’ve photographed! See further examples here:
The venue will reflect how your pictures look, nothing compares to a naturally beautiful venue.
Here is a traditional church wedding, I love the look of the stained glass in the background.
With the warm glow from the church lights, the guests are not too close giving the couple an intimate time to exchange vowels.
2 decoration
Something to consider when doing this is whether guests will be sittimg or standing?
Flower arrangements will create a great backdrop where you exchange your vowels.
These flowers make old-fashioned windows look so much prettier adding a unique touch to the setting.
Here we created an isle of people to so everyone canthrow confetti on the couple.
This is a tradition that comes from Roman times it wishes fertility and prosperity on the couple.
3 group photos location:
The background for your group shots is most important and can make or break an image.
This example demonstrates all the beautiful open space and how we made the most of it.
4 timing:
Time is important so you can get the best out of all the guests and create beautiful posed photographs.
An example of what a group wedding list could look like.
Sunset is a great time to photograph the newly married couple before the evening party starts, you can see the orange tint as the sun prepares to set.
5 Planning
Lastly having a list of all key shots will make sure your bride and groom can relax.
I ask every couple for a plan, which looks a little like this allowing them to relax and enjoy the day because everything is covered with a detailed schedule.
If you are or soon to be looking at booking a wedding photographer for your big day I hope this was of interest to you
