Did Covid19 Spoil Your Little One’s First Birthday?

posted by admin on

There are many parents who due to the pandemic have sadly missed out on celebrating their child’s first birthday with their family and friends.

But fear not! With lockdown restrictions being eased, now is the perfect time to start planning their even bigger second birthday!

I look forward to working with you to capture the magic with a professional photoshoot. One fairly new and increasingly popular tradition in the UK is the “Cake Smash” photoshoot. Last year, I really enjoyed organising these photoshoots with parents in their own homes.

For the first half of the session your child gets very messy eating the cake. For the second half, they have a bubble bath which is a great way to clean them up and also get some fun extra shots!

But where did the idea behind the “Cake Smash Photoshoot” come from?

One theory suggests it originated from the Mexican tradition of “The Mordida”, where on a child’s first birthday, they blow out their candle and have their face shoved into a cake, normally by their mum or dad, then everyone cheers and takes photos.

The Cake Smash is a lot of fun and will give you memories you’ll treasure forever.

Here is Ava on her second birthday, showing you what to expect. She didn’t get as messy as some children I’ve photographed! See further examples here:

I have done Cake Smash Photoshoots for parents all over East Sussex, including Brighton, Seaford, Eastbourne, Lewes, Polegate, and Hailsham.
